Norvinia Health is a traditional, insurance-based primary care practice in Fairfax, VA. We accept Medicare and most commercial insurance plans. Dr. Mamta Ojha, a board-certified internal medicine physician, and her experienced staff care for adults with everything from routine checkups and sudden illnesses to complex, long-term medical conditions.
How We Provide Primary Care
Primary care works best when one physician knows your whole story. At your first visit, Dr. Ojha reviews your medical history, family history, medications, and health goals, and that understanding carries forward to every visit after it. Whether you come in for an annual physical, a new symptom, or a follow-up, your care is built on what we already know about you rather than starting over each time.
Dr. Ojha and her staff follow evidence-based, guideline-directed evaluation, medical therapy, and screenings. Taking the time to listen and examine carefully helps us avoid unnecessary tests and referrals and manage more of your healthcare needs right here in our office. When a specialist is needed, we coordinate that care and keep the full picture in one place.
Traditional primary care at Norvinia Health includes:
- Annual physicals and Medicare wellness visits
- Visits for new symptoms and acute illnesses
- Ongoing management of chronic medical conditions
- Medication review, refills, and safety monitoring
- Lab testing, imaging orders, and recommended health screenings
- Vaccination guidance and preventive counseling
- Preoperative evaluations
- Referrals and coordination with specialists and hospitals
Care for Acute Illnesses
New symptoms deserve a timely, careful evaluation by a physician who knows your history. We see patients for acute problems such as respiratory infections, cough, sore throat, urinary symptoms, abdominal pain, headaches, back and joint pain, skin concerns, dizziness, and fatigue. Because Dr. Ojha already knows your medical conditions and medications, she can judge quickly whether a new symptom is a minor illness or a sign of something that needs further workup, and treat it accordingly.
If you have symptoms of a medical emergency, such as chest pain, trouble breathing, or signs of a stroke, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Management of Complex Chronic Conditions
Internal medicine is the specialty of adult medicine, with particular training in patients who have several medical conditions at once. Dr. Ojha manages chronic conditions including hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, thyroid disorders, asthma and COPD, chronic kidney disease, obesity, osteoporosis, arthritis, neuropathy, and memory concerns.
Chronic conditions rarely occur alone, and treating one can affect another. Our approach to complex care includes:
- Regular monitoring with scheduled follow-ups, lab work, and adjustments before small changes become complications
- Medication management that looks at your full medication list for interactions, side effects, and medicines you may no longer need
- Coordinated care when you see cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, or other specialists, so recommendations work together
- Follow-up after a hospital or emergency room visit to review what changed and keep your recovery on track
- Practical lifestyle guidance on nutrition, activity, sleep, and weight that fits your daily life

Prevention at Every Stage
Good primary care is not only about treating illness. It is also about preventing it, finding it early, and limiting its impact. We organize preventive care around the three levels of prevention used throughout medicine:
Stopping disease before it starts through vaccinations, healthy weight, physical activity, tobacco cessation, and control of risk factors such as blood pressure and cholesterol.
Finding disease early, when it is most treatable, through screening for diabetes, high cholesterol, osteoporosis, and breast, colorectal, cervical, and lung cancer based on your age and risk.
Reducing complications and preserving function when a condition is already established, such as care after a heart attack or stroke, or protecting the kidneys, eyes, and feet in diabetes.

Why Primary Care Matters
Many serious conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, and some cancers, develop silently for years. A primary care physician who sees you regularly can recognize changes over time, identify risks early, and act before complications develop. Having one physician who knows your complete health history also means clearer communication, safer prescribing, and better decisions when something new comes up.
